Who We Are

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Alabama is a membership program that is member planned and member managed. The University of Alabama is proud to offer this program at Tuscaloosa, Gadsden, and Birmingham.

Member participation and volunteerism are the fuels for the success of OLLI. This exciting academic cooperative provides mature adults with opportunities for intellectual stimulation, cultural development, and social interaction. OLLI's education programs are centered on courses developed by and often taught by its members - who volunteer their time and talents to share their knowledge and interests with other members. You'll find no homework, no exams, no required college degrees, no age threshold (and no academic credits) - just learning for the fun of it.

*** ALL on site Classes and Bonus programs for April and May are cancelled.
See the following online courses. ***

“Our Shadow Wars of Tariffs and Sanctions” has been removed from an in-person
course due to the coronavirus.

However we WILL hold it online through Zoom, a simple audio-visual tool similar
to Facetime.

The online course will be May 19 for China and May 26 for Iran, both at 1:00
instead of the time originally scheduled. We are grateful to Professors Corbetta
and Motii for agreeing to present their lectures online!

The course on "Classic Comedy Films" in May has been closed to in-person
viewing due to the coronavirus.

However we WILL have two of the films with follow-up commentary on May 21 and 28,
at 1:00 instead of the time listed in the catalog.

This will take place through Zoom, a simple audio-visual format similar to Facetime.
May 21 will be "The Pink Panther" and May 28 will be "Abbott and Costello
Meet Frankenstein".

We are very grateful to Ward and Martha Haarbauer who will lead us through a
discussion after the films end.

In addition to the online classes above, OLLI has provided a few more in May.
